Measuring public space by the handlebar count
Yesterday, Nate Elkins of Influence Design Forum in Traverse City, set up a demonstrative display, Parking (SPACE), of 22 bikes parked together in a single parking space originally designed for one automobile. Twenty two bikes is pretty snug (comfortable on-street parking is around 12 bikes) but perhaps he stumbled upon a new way to measure downtown public space.
How many bikes can fit here?
