Question from the coffee shop:
Do you have a positive story from a recent trip around town? A situation where a complete stranger gave you a little extra consideration?
Perhaps, they simply smiled. Or, perhaps you did.
Sure…. last week while heading back to downtown from The Commons property, I was riding my bicycle east-bound on 6th Street. Three different times along that 1.2 mile path drivers yielded the right of way to me, letting me move through intersections or otherwise use the roadway while they waited. Each time I was greeted with a smile and that funny little wave signal that people use. It was a nice day of grace for a guy on two wheels.
Sure. I was riding my bike on the TART and I came up to the crossing at Front Street, you know near the Holiday Inn. A woman on a bike came up and stopped next to me. When the light changed and there was no traffic, she asked if I wanted to go first. I said no go ahead you’re probably faster than me anyway. I guess that’s not much but I thought it was nice of her to ask.
Yesterday morning biking the trail across the Commons I came upon a bunny rabbit sitting smack dab next to a blue jay.
And…on the way home a car actually stopped and waited for me to cross at the 14th and Division intersection.
Both equally incongruous.
I received the biggest smile and wave the other day for simply stopping at a stop sign and waiving someone else through.
