Parking cars is still pretty dumb, however…

San Francisco is getting smart, really smart, about its parking. The SFPark program is set up to provide market demand pricing to the city’s parking spaces. The more in demand, the higher the price and then the higher the turnover, thus getting closer to always having a spot available. The pilot program is an attempt to relieve congestion, reduce driving, raise revenue and get people out of their cars and into stores. The following video explains…for how complicated it is, it sure seems simple.

The one line that I really appreciate in the following introductory video is at 2:20. As the narrator is about to explain the different methods of payment, he begins, “when people choose to drive…“. Yes, driving a car is a choice.
