Hi Gary,

Very cool blog! As you are most likely aware, we at JenTees have recently beautified the corner of 8th and Wellington St. I understand that you are a neighborhood advocate and this site affects your neighborhood's property values. I encourage you to contact the owner and my boss, Mark Jensen. He would like to see some of the city money spent on this side of town.

See you round town! your friend, Bernie

Gary,

I have met you once or several times, but I am an avid follower of community activism. For years, Eric Hines and I at Mornings on WNMC have pined for a monorail in our community. BATA is in no way ready to make the leap, but here is an opportunity. This morning, it was announced that the Shweeb Corporation won over a million dollars to further their goal of building a pedal driven monorail. They are looking for communities to embrace this system. I think Traverse City is a prime candidate.

If you feel this is worthy, we would like to help support a community effort to grab the attention of the Shweeb corporation. We would like to see this system in action here in TC.

We can only offer publicity, and one other jewel; A Traverse City Monorail Song. This will be a professionally produced song, from a nationally recognized industrial musical image producer. I am throwing down the Gauntlet on taking this community one step closer to notability with this monorail. I hope you can see the vision and join in.

Gary -- You are a champion in the greatest sense of the word. The philosophy you've adopted and espoused here via countless examples and discourses is phenomenally inspiring.

Here's an idea that I'm sure you've heard of, one that probably requires some serious scale to work in reality: http://afctank.blogspot.com/2009/07/chiyu-chens-hybrid-bike-system.html (follow the links!)

Keep up this amazing drive to reclaim our daily world from the current gassy, tin-can deathgrip!

Great information and thank you for taking the initiative to contact me, Craig. I'll be updating the map soon with the new information. The opposition to this simple traffic tool, although it fits the pattern, is still surprising considering the amount of information and success regarding the modern roundabout. The more the public can hear from communities that have them, like them, and continue to expand their use is beneficial. In particular, positive messages from road commissions and traffic engineers is appreciated; send more this way if you could!

Hi Gary.

I'm the PIO at the Road Commission for Oakland County. Nice site! BTW, I note that you are not including 6 or 8 of our roundabouts here in Oakland County on your map. Also, we have a great video and lots of materials on roundabouts that you might be interested in. If you can send me your e-mail, I'll provide a comprehensive list of roundabouts in Oakland County as well as our video and materials (Much of this is also available on our Web site).

Thanks!

Thanks for chiming in Henry...I just sent you an email with a small request.

I haven't heard of the "Pedestrian Revolution" but it sounds captivating. I look forward to setting my eyes on it.

Let Ethan know that if he ever wants to share some stories about the “Open Roads Youth Bicycle Program” with all of us in NW Michigan, I'd be glad to host here.

I almost named this site<em>OurWheelsareTurning.com</em> for that very reason....

Gary, Do you own the book "The Pedestrian Revolution" which for long was out of print? If you don't, I'll send you a copy (to NMC?) Do let me know -- and keep posting. Your blog is terrific -- and I've pointed it out to my son Ethan who is running an "Open Roads Youth Bicycle Program" in Kalamazoo. He is teaching social skills & bicycle repair to "troubled" youths. He loved your blog.
