Am I the only one who doesn’t text message with my thumbs? Regardless of how you text, it’s now illegal to do it while under the influence of driving a motor vehicle. Heads-up, eyes on the road.
This video is part of the roll out of the “thumbs on the wheel” campaign. Starting July 1st, a $100 citation is possible for texting behind the wheel . A more likely scenario is that you crash into something.
This social trail along Cass St., south of 14th, is one reminder of the incomplete pedestrian network in Traverse City. Trails are on both sides of the street.
Where do we need sidewalks? Follow the trails.
In locations like this, people often ask, “why would anyone want to walk or bike on Cass St.?” As my friend Linnaea, who happens to live in this neighborhood astutely points out, “why would anyone want to drive Cass St.?“
The fact is that it is a heavily traveled corridor for people wanted to go places and it should be built to offer safe and comfortable options. Add it to the list…
For the dogs
It’s not only people who need to use the Cass St. corridor. Nora the beagle doesn’t really care too much, but after cutting across a series of parking lots, private lawns and maneuvering past at least one fence, the need for a sidewalk was apparent her owner.
To be a remarkable, walkable, bikable city, the entire city, even the edges of the city need a complete network of infrastructure.
